The Wilkes-Barre Area Career and Technical Center Practical Nursing program is a one-year, full-time program that provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The program is approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). The program curriculum includes coursework in anatomy and physiology, nursing fundamentals, medical-surgical nursing, maternal-child nursing, psychiatric nursing, and nursing management. Clinical experiences are an integral part of the program and are provided at various health care facilities throughout the Wilkes-Barre area. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN).
