About Delaware

Delaware is a state located in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, bordering Maryland to the south and west, Pennsylvania to the north, and New Jersey to the east. The state takes its name from Thomas West, 3rd Baron De La Warr, an English nobleman and Virginia's first colonial governor. Delaware is divided into three counties, New Castle, Kent, and Sussex. It is the second smallest state in the United States by area, after Rhode Island.

The state has a long history, dating back to the time of the first European settlements in the early 1600s. Delaware was one of the thirteen colonies that revolted against British rule in the American Revolution. On December 7, 1787, Delaware became the first state to ratify the Constitution of the United States, and it became known as the "First State".

Delaware is home to many historical and cultural attractions, including the state capital of Dover, the colonial-era town of New Castle, and the beach resort of Rehoboth Beach. The state is also home to the University of Delaware, the oldest university in the United States.

Delaware's economy is based on agriculture, manufacturing, and service industries. The state is home to many large corporations, including DuPont, W.L. Gore & Associates, and AstraZeneca. Delaware is also a popular destination for tourists, who come to enjoy the state's beaches, parks, and museums.
