The college is part of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools district and offers Associate in Science degrees and technical certificates in a variety of trade and technical fields. The college is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
D A Dorsey Technical College was established in 1971 and is named after Dr. Daniel A. Dorsey, who was the first African American Superintendent of Schools in Miami-Dade County. The college originally operated out of a converted elementary school building in the Liberty City neighborhood of Miami. In 1974, the college moved to its current location on NW 27th Avenue in Miami.
D A Dorsey Technical College offers programs in a variety of trade and technical fields, including automotive technology, cosmetology, culinary arts, dental assisting, electrical technology, HVAC technology, plumbing technology, and welding technology. The college also offers an Associate in Science degree in business administration.
