The University of Central Missouri, also known as UCM, is a public university located in Warrensburg, Missouri. UCM was founded in 1871 as Normal School No. 2, the second public normal school in Missouri. In 1919, the school became Central Missouri State Teachers College, and in 1965, the name was changed to the University of Central Missouri. UCM offers more than 150 undergraduate programs and 70 graduate programs, and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The university enrolls over 12,000 students from all 50 states and more than 60 countries. UCM is a member of the NCAA Division II and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. The UCM Mules and Jennies compete in 17 sports. The university is also home to the Robert W. Plaster Center, which is the largest outdoor sports complex in Missouri. UCM is ranked as one of the best regional universities in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report.
