Rhode Island Universities and Colleges


Rhode Island is home to a wide variety of colleges and universities that provide students with a wide range of educational opportunities. The University of Rhode Island is the state’s flagship institution, offering more than 80 undergraduate majors, as well as master’s and doctoral degrees. The school is ranked among the top public universities in the Northeast and is known for its strong research and academic programs.

Other four-year institutions in Rhode Island include Brown University, an Ivy League school that is ranked among the top 20 universities in the country; Providence College, a private Catholic institution; and Roger Williams University, a private institution that offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees.

The Rhode Island School of Design is the state’s premier art and design school, offering degrees in a variety of creative disciplines. The school is ranked among the top 10 art and design schools in the country.

Rhode Island also has a number of two-year community colleges and technical schools. The Community College of Rhode Island is the largest of these, offering associate’s degrees in a variety of fields. Other two-year institutions include the New England Institute of Technology and the Rhode Island College of Technology.

Finally, Rhode Island is home to a number of specialized institutions. The Rhode Island School of Pharmacy, for example, is the only school of its kind in the state, offering degrees in pharmacy and related fields. The Rhode Island School of Law is another specialized institution, offering degrees in law and related fields.
