Georgia Universities and Colleges

Georgia is home to more than 90 public and private colleges and universities, offering a wide variety of educational opportunities for students of all ages. The University System of Georgia (USG) is the state's flagship system of public higher education, comprising 26 universities and colleges. These institutions offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in a wide range of disciplines, including the sciences, engineering, business, the humanities, and the arts.

The University of Georgia, the state's oldest and most prestigious institution of higher learning, is located in Athens and is a member of the USG. UGA is a research-intensive university and is home to a number of highly ranked academic programs, including its Terry College of Business, School of Law, and College of Veterinary Medicine.

The Georgia Institute of Technology, or Georgia Tech, is the state's other major research university. Located in Atlanta, Georgia Tech is a leader in engineering and technology research, and its College of Computing is one of the top-ranked in the world.

The state is also home to a number of smaller, private institutions, including Emory University in Atlanta, Mercer University in Macon, and the Savannah College of Art and Design. These schools offer a range of undergraduate and graduate degrees, and many also offer specialized programs in areas such as business, medicine, and law.
