Northwest Indian College (NWIC) is a tribal college located on the Lummi reservation in Bellingham, Washington, United States. It is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. NWIC offers Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Bachelor of Science degrees, as well as certificate programs. The college also provides community education and continuing education courses.

NWIC was founded in 1974 as the Lummi Community College. It was the first tribal college in the Pacific Northwest and one of the first in the nation. The college was renamed Northwest Indian College in 1984.

NWIC’s mission is to empower Indigenous people and communities through higher education that is culturally responsive and academically excellent. The college is committed to supporting the self-determination of Indigenous peoples and promoting social and economic justice.

NWIC’s campus is located on the Lummi reservation, which is situated on the southern coast of Whatcom County in northwest Washington state. The Lummi Nation is a federally recognized tribe of Coast Salish people. The college’s main campus is in Bellingham, with satellite campuses in Ferndale and Mount Vernon.

NWIC offers a variety of degree and certificate programs. The Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees can be completed entirely online. The Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science is offered in a hybrid format, with some courses offered online and others offered in person. NWIC also offers certificate programs in business, environmental science, and Native American studies.

In addition to its academic programs, NWIC provides community education and continuing education courses. These courses are open to everyone, regardless of tribal affiliation.
