Admission Requirements

Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences-Joplin (KCUMB-J) is a four-year medical school located in Joplin, Missouri. KCUMB-J is a part of the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCU) system. KCU is a private, non-profit, medical school with campuses in Kansas City, Missouri, and Joplin, Missouri.

In order to be eligible for admission to KCUMB-J, applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Applicants must also have completed the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) within the last three years. In addition, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a minimum MCAT score of 507.

KCUMB-J does not consider race, color, creed, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, or disability in its admissions process.

Once all application materials have been received, the Admissions Committee will review the file and determine if the applicant will be offered an interview. The Admissions Committee will take into consideration the applicant's academic record, MCAT score, letters of recommendation, and personal statement when making their decision.

Interviews are conducted on-campus and are by invitation only. During the interview, applicants will have the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, and current students. Applicants will also tour the campus and facilities.

After the interview, the Admissions Committee will make a decision on whether or not to offer the applicant admission to KCUMB-J. Admission decisions are based on the applicant's academic record, MCAT score, letters of recommendation, personal statement, and interview performance.

Once an applicant has been offered admission to KCUMB-J, they will have seven days to accept or decline the offer. Upon acceptance, the applicant will be required to submit a non-refundable deposit of $500 to secure their spot in the incoming class.
