Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) is a private, independent college of art and design founded in 1885 in Kansas City, Missouri. KCAI offers an intense education in the visual arts to a diverse body of approximately 400 full-time undergraduate students. The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

KCAI’s campus is situated on a hilltop overlooking downtown Kansas City. The campus is comprised of 15 buildings, including the historic H&R Block Artspace at the Crossroads, and the new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. KCAI’s campus is also home to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, one of the nation’s finest art museums.

KCAI’s academic program is focused on the study of fine art. Students can choose from a variety of majors, including painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, glass, photography, illustration, graphic design, new media, and art history. KCAI also offers a unique 5-year BFA/MFA program.

KCAI’s faculty is comprised of nationally and internationally recognized artists, designers, and scholars. KCAI’s small class sizes allow for close interaction between students and faculty.

KCAI’s alumni include some of the most successful artists, designers, and educators in the world. KCAI’s graduates have gone on to win Pulitzer Prizes, Academy Awards, and Grammy Awards.
