A.T. Still University of Health Sciences (ATSU) is a private, non-profit institution founded in 1892 by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still. ATSU is committed to educating health care professionals who will meet the health needs of society through excellence in osteopathic medicine, dentistry, and health sciences education. ATSU is comprised of five schools: the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM), the School of Health Management (SHM), the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ASDOH), the Arizona School of Health Sciences (ASHS), and the Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (MOSDOH).
ATSU’s primary campus is located in Kirksville, Missouri, and includes the ATSU-KCOM Museum, which is open to the public and houses a collection of osteopathic artifacts. The ATSU-KCOM Library & Learning Resources Center provides students and faculty with access to a variety of resources, including a comprehensive collection of osteopathic literature. In addition to the Kirksville campus, ATSU operates campuses in Mesa, Arizona; St. Louis, Missouri; and Independence, Missouri.
ATSU’s academic programs are accredited by a number of professional organizations, including the Higher Learning Commission, the Commission on Dental Accreditation, and the American Osteopathic Association’s Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation. ATSU’s clinical training sites are also accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and the American Dental Association’s Commission on Dental Accreditation.
ATSU’s osteopathic medical program is ranked #1 in primary care by U.S. News & World Report and the school’s physical therapy program is ranked #5 by the same publication. In addition, ATSU’s online graduate programs are ranked among the best in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
ATSU is dedicated to serving the underserved and to improving the health of communities through its osteopathic medical, dental, and health sciences education programs. The university’s commitment to social responsibility is evident in its many community service initiatives, including the ATSU Center for Community Health, which provides free health screenings and education to underserved populations in Kirksville and the surrounding area.
ATSU is also committed to research and offers a variety of research opportunities for students and faculty. The university’s research enterprise is conducted through the ATSU Institute for Health Outcomes and Policy Research and the ATSU Office of Sponsored Programs. ATSU’s research facilities include the ATSU Center for Anatomical Sciences, the ATSU Center for Biomedical Imaging, and the ATSU Center for Health Professions Education.
