Vincennes University is a public university in Vincennes, Indiana, in the United States. Founded in 1801 as Jefferson Academy, it is the oldest public university in Indiana and the first west of the Appalachian Mountains. It is also the second-oldest public university in the United States, after the University of Georgia. The university is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Higher Learning Commission. Vincennes University offers associate's and bachelor's degrees in more than 50 areas of study. The university has an enrollment of about 4,200 students. The university's athletic teams are known as the Trailblazers. The university is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and competes in the Mid-South Conference.
