Founded in 1974, the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) is a comprehensive four-year university offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees. The university is one of four distinct institutions within the University of Houston System. UHD is located in the heart of Houston’s historic downtown, adjacent to the city’s theater and museum districts and just minutes from the Texas Medical Center. The university’s diverse student body includes more than 13,000 students from more than 90 countries.

UHD offers more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs through its five colleges: College of Business, College of Public Service, College of Sciences and Technology, University College and Honors College. The university’s faculty members are committed to teaching and research, and many are nationally and internationally recognized experts in their fields.

The university is dedicated to providing an affordable, high-quality education to students from all backgrounds. UHD is one of the most affordable universities in Texas, and its tuition and fees are significantly lower than those of other public universities in the state. The university also offers a variety of financial aid and scholarship programs to help students meet the cost of their education.

UHD is a vibrant and active community, with more than 100 student organizations and clubs, as well as a thriving Greek life. The university also offers a variety of intramural sports and fitness programs. UHD’s campus is home to a number of art galleries, performance venues, and retail businesses.

The University of Houston-Downtown is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
