Southern Adventist University is a private, coeducational university located in Collegedale, Tennessee, United States. The university is owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Southern Adventist University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award baccalaureate and master's degrees. The school was founded in 1892 as Graysville Academy and changed its name to Southern Missionary College in 1907. In 1960, the name was changed to Southern College, and finally to Southern Adventist University in 1997. The university offers more than 100 programs of study in 10 schools. The school's athletic teams compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division II and are members of the Southern States Athletic Conference.
