Indiana University Northwest is a public university in Gary, Indiana. It is part of the Indiana University system and offers bachelor's and master's degrees. The campus is located on 156 acres of land in the northwest corner of the city. The university has four academic schools: the School of Business and Economics, the School of Education, the School of Health and Human Services, and the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Indiana University Northwest was established in 1963 as the Northwest campus of Indiana University. The campus was originally located on the grounds of the former Gary Municipal Airport. The university moved to its current location in 1974. The campus has grown steadily over the years and now includes eight academic buildings, a library, a student center, a fitness center, and a performing arts center. The university enrolls more than 6,000 students from across the state of Indiana and around the world.
