Admission Requirements
Admission to Austin Community College District (ACC) is open to all students who can benefit from the College’s educational programs and services. The College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, religion, age, disability, or veteran status in its admissions or educational programs or activities.
To be eligible for admission to ACC, an applicant must:
• Be a high school graduate or have completed a GED® certificate; or
• Be 18 years of age or older and able to benefit from ACC’s educational programs and services; or
• Be a minor who has been determined by a court to be emancipated and able to benefit from ACC’s educational programs and services.
In addition to the above requirements, some programs at ACC have additional admission requirements. For more information, please visit the program webpage or contact the program directly.
ACC welcomes applications from all eligible students. The College has an open-door policy, which means that any student who meets the above requirements and desires to enroll in credit courses is eligible for admission. However, some programs at ACC may have selective admission criteria and/or additional requirements, which are described below.
All applicants must complete the ACC application for admission and submit all required documents prior to the published deadline. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
International applicants must submit additional documentation as required. Please visit the International Students webpage for more information.
ACC evaluates each applicant’s high school or college transcripts to determine course placement. Applicants who have not completed high school or who have not taken the GED® test must complete the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment prior to enrolling in credit courses.
Applicants who have not completed high school or the GED® and who have not taken the TSI Assessment may be eligible to enroll in developmental courses if they meet certain criteria. For more information, please contact the Testing Center.
Some programs at ACC have selective admission criteria and/or additional requirements. For more information about these programs, please visit the program webpage or contact the program directly.
