The University of South Florida (USF) is a public research university in Tampa, Florida. It is a member institution of the State University System of Florida and is the fourth-largest university in the state of Florida, with an enrollment of over 50,000 students. The USF system includes three campuses in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee, and a fourth campus in Lakeland. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

USF was established in 1956 as a state college, and was later designated as a university in 1965.
