Admission Requirements
The University of Oklahoma-Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) is a public university in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. OUHSC is one of three comprehensive health centers in the state of Oklahoma and is the only one with a medical school. The OUHSC campus is located on 110 acres (0.45 km2) in the northeast corner of the Oklahoma Health Center, which is adjacent to the State Capitol and the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds.
OUHSC offers programs in the health sciences at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels. The OU College of Medicine is the only medical school in the state of Oklahoma. The OU School of Community Medicine is the state's only public school of medicine. The OU College of Nursing is the state's only public college of nursing. The OU School of Allied Health is the state's only public college of allied health.
The OUHSC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The OU College of Medicine is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. The OU School of Community Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. The OU College of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
In order to be admitted into the University of Oklahoma-Health Sciences Center, students must first meet the general admission requirements of the university. These requirements include a minimum high school GPA of 2.5 and a minimum ACT score of 21. Students must also complete the following courses: 4 units of English, 3 units of mathematics (Algebra I or higher), 3 units of natural science, 3 units of social science, and 2 units of foreign language.
Once students have met the general admission requirements, they must then complete the specific requirements of the program to which they are applying. For example, the OU College of Medicine requires students to complete the following courses: 4 units of English, 4 units of mathematics (Algebra I or higher), 4 units of natural science, 3 units of social science, and 2 units of foreign language.
OUHSC also offers a number of dual degree programs, which allow students to earn both a bachelor's degree and a professional degree. For example, students can earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Doctor of Medicine in four years.
