It is part of the State University System of Florida and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. UNF was founded in 1965 and opened its doors in 1972. It has an enrollment of over 16,000 students. The university offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in a variety of fields, including business, education, engineering, nursing, and psychology. UNF is a member of the NCAA Division I and competes in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The university's athletic teams are known as the Ospreys.
