Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) is a historically black public university in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is a member of the Southern University System. SUNO was established in 1956 in response to the 1954 United States Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education, which ruled that segregation in public education was unconstitutional. SUNO is the only public university in Louisiana that is dedicated to the education of African Americans. The university is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

SUNO offers bachelor's degrees in business administration, criminal justice, education, English, liberal arts, mass communication, nursing, social work, and sociology. The university also offers master's degrees in business administration, education, liberal arts, public administration, and social work. SUNO is home to the Center for African and African Diaspora Studies, which is the only center of its kind in Louisiana. The center offers a minor in African and African Diaspora Studies.

SUNO is a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and the United Negro College Fund. The university is also a member of the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education.
