Salus University is a private university in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. The university is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Salus University was founded in 1919 as the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. The college was the first optometry school in the United States and was founded by a group of Philadelphia optometrists. The college became a university in 2008 and changed its name to Salus University. The university has grown significantly in recent years and now has over 1,600 students.
