Saint Augustine's University is a private, historically black university located in Raleigh, North Carolina. The university is affiliated with the Episcopal Church. The university was founded in 1867 by the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina and is one of the oldest historically black colleges and universities in the United States. The university is named after Saint Augustine of Hippo, the patron saint of the Episcopal Church. The university offers bachelor's degrees in liberal arts, business, education, and science. The university is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The student body is approximately 1,500 students.
