The Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico (PCUPR) is a private, co-educational institution of higher learning located in the city of Mayagüez on the island of Puerto Rico. It is the only Catholic university in Puerto Rico and the only pontifical university in the Americas. The University offers undergraduate and graduate programs in a wide range of academic disciplines.

The Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico was founded in 1948 by the Puerto Rican Episcopal Conference and was accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in 1953. It was granted pontifical status by Pope Paul VI in 1964, making it the first pontifical university in the Americas.

The University is organized into seven schools: Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Humanities, Law, Nursing, and Social Work. It also has a Graduate School and a School of Continuing Education.

The University’s main campus is located in the city of Mayagüez, on the west coast of Puerto Rico. It also has two satellite campuses, one in the city of Ponce on the island’s south coast, and another in the city of San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico.
