Founded in 1966, Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico-Arecibo (UCP) is a private, co-educational institution of higher learning located in the northwestern town of Arecibo, Puerto Rico. UCP is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. It is also recognized by the Puerto Rico Council of Education. The University offers undergraduate and graduate programs in a variety of disciplines, including the liberal arts, business, education, engineering, and natural sciences.

UCP’s mission is to provide an excellent education grounded in the Catholic faith and tradition. The University seeks to develop the whole person – academically, spiritually, morally, and socially – so that graduates may lead successful and fulfilling lives. UCP’s undergraduate programs include Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees. Graduate programs at UCP include Master of Arts, Master of Science, and Master of Business Administration degrees, as well as a Doctor of Education degree.

UCP has a strong commitment to service and outreach, and offers a variety of programs and services to the community. The University’s campus is home to the Arecibo Observatory, one of the world’s largest and most sensitive radio telescopes. The Observatory is operated by Cornell University under a cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation.
