Pennsylvania State University-Penn State Hazleton is a four-year, public university that is part of the Pennsylvania State University System. The university is located in the borough of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, in the northeastern part of the state. The university was founded in 1974 as a two-year branch campus of Pennsylvania State University. The campus initially offered only associate's degree programs. In 1980, the campus was expanded to a four-year institution and began offering bachelor's degree programs. In 1995, the campus was renamed Pennsylvania State University-Penn State Hazleton.
The university is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The university's undergraduate programs are organized into four academic divisions: Arts and Sciences, Business, Earth and Mineral Sciences, and Engineering.
