Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) is a public medical school in Rootstown, Ohio. NEOMED is part of the University System of Ohio and offers the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Science in Pharmacy (MSP) degrees. NEOMED also has a partnership with Kent State University which offers the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
NEOMED was established in 1973 and is one of eight public medical schools in Ohio. The school has a mission to "improve the health of the people of Ohio and the nation by educating exemplary physicians and pharmacists, by providing cutting-edge research and by serving the community through the provision of patient care." NEOMED is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and the Liaison Committee on Medical Education.
The school offers a unique curriculum that includes a year-long Introduction to Clinical Medicine course which all students must complete before beginning their clinical rotations. NEOMED also has a rural track program which provides students with the opportunity to complete their clinical rotations in rural communities.
NEOMED is home to the Center for Excellence in Medical Education which provides support and resources for faculty and students. The Center for Excellence in Medical Education also offers a variety of educational programs and workshops.
The school has a strong commitment to research and offers a variety of research opportunities for students. NEOMED is home to the Center for Clinical and Translational Science which is a partnership between NEOMED, the Cleveland Clinic, and Summa Health System. The Center for Clinical and Translational Science supports clinical and translational research projects.
NEOMED is also home to the Ohio Center for Health Data and Analytics. The Ohio Center for Health Data and Analytics is a partnership between NEOMED and the Ohio Department of Health. The Ohio Center for Health Data and Analytics provides data and analytics support for NEOMED and the Ohio Department of Health.
NEOMED is located on a 350-acre campus in Rootstown, Ohio. The school is situated in a rural area and is adjacent to the Northeast Ohio Medical University Hospital.
