Monmouth University is a private university located in West Long Branch, New Jersey, United States. Founded in 1933 as Monmouth Junior College, it became Monmouth College in 1956 and Monmouth University in 1995 after receiving its charter. The university consists of six schools: the School of Business, the Leon Hess Business School, the School of Education, the Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies, the Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the School of Science. The university offers over 50 undergraduate and 30 graduate programs and degrees.
Monmouth University was founded in 1933 as Monmouth Junior College by Dr. William Allan Neilson, then president of Monmouth College in Illinois. The campus moved to its current location in West Long Branch in 1956, and became a four-year institution in 1957 as Monmouth College. The college was granted university status in 1995 and changed its name to Monmouth University. The university is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
The university consists of six schools: the School of Business, the Leon Hess Business School, the School of Education, the Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies, the Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the School of Science. The School of Business offers degrees in accounting, finance, management, and marketing. The Leon Hess Business School offers degrees in business administration and economics. The School of Education offers degrees in elementary and secondary education, special education, and educational leadership. The Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies offers degrees in nursing, health studies, and public health. The Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences offers degrees in English, history, modern languages, communication, and the arts. The School of Science offers degrees in biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, and physics.

Monmouth University is located on a picturesque 176-acre campus in West Long Branch, New Jersey, just minutes from the Jersey shore. The campus features six residence halls, two dining halls, a recreation center, a library, and several academic buildings. The university also has a satellite campus in Wall, New Jersey, and a study abroad program in London, England.
