Founded in 1974, the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design is a private, non-profit college of art and design committed to preparing students for creative careers in a global context. MIAD offers Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in 10 majors, as well as a Master of Arts in Education degree, a post-baccalaureate certificate program and continuing education for adults. The college’s 10-acre campus is located in the heart of Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward arts district.
MIAD’s curriculum is designed to develop each student’s creative and technical skills, as well as their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. The college’s small class sizes and hands-on approach to learning provide students with the individualized attention they need to succeed.
MIAD is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and is a member of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD). The college’s Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Science programs are both accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
Since its founding, MIAD has graduated more than 2,700 students who have gone on to successful careers in the arts and design. The college’s alumni can be found working in a variety of fields, including advertising, architecture, fashion, graphic design, illustration, industrial design, interior design, photography and many others.
