Mars Hill University is a small, private, liberal arts university located in the mountains of western North Carolina. The university was founded in 1856 by Baptist minister Daniel Asa Moore and is named after the Biblical story of the apostle Paul's sermon on Mars Hill. The university is affiliated with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
