Loyola University Maryland is a private Jesuit university in Baltimore, Maryland. Founded in 1852, Loyola is one of 28 member institutions of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities. The university is named after St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus. Loyola's main campus is located within the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore.

Loyola University Maryland is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, including business, education, engineering, nursing, and liberal arts.

Loyola's athletic teams compete in the NCAA Division I Patriot League. The university is home to a number of student organizations, including the Loyola Greyhounds men's basketball team, which has won two NCAA Division I championships.

Loyola University Maryland was founded in 1852 by John Early and the Society of Jesus. The university began as a college for young men studying to be Jesuits. In 1917, the college became coeducational and began admitting women. In 1971, the college was renamed Loyola College in Maryland. In 1984, the college became a university and was renamed Loyola University Maryland.

Loyola's main campus is located in the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore. The campus is situated on 52 acres of land and includes a number of buildings, including the Loyola Chapel, the Loyola Center for the Arts, and the Loyola Retreat House.
