Founded in 1853, Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary is a seminary of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) located in Louisville, Kentucky. It is one of ten seminaries affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
The seminary offers the Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Religion, Doctor of Ministry, and PhD degrees, as well as a number of certificate programs. It also offers a number of online and distance education programs.
Louisville Seminary is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It is a member of the Kentucky Council of Churches and the Louisville Ecumenical Consortium.
The seminary's faculty includes scholars in a variety of fields, including biblical studies, church history, pastoral care, practical theology, and religious education. The seminary's students come from a variety of backgrounds, including the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and other denominations.
The seminary's campus is located in Louisville's Highlands neighborhood, on a bluff overlooking Cherokee Park. The campus includes a number of historic buildings, including the Administration Building, which was designed by Louisville architect Frederick A. Clark and completed in 1924.
The seminary is governed by a Board of Trustees, which is elected by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The seminary's current president is Dr. Michael J. Gorman.
