Founded in 1967, Louisiana State University in Shreveport (LSUS) is a public university and one of the campuses of the Louisiana State University System. It is located in Shreveport, Louisiana, in the northwestern corner of the state. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as a number of professional programs.
LSUS is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees. The university is organized into five colleges: the College of Business, the College of Education and Human Development, the College of Liberal Arts, the College of Nursing and Allied Health Professions, and the College of Science. LSUS offers a number of programs and majors that are unique to the university, such as aviation management, cybersecurity, and film studies.
The LSUS campus is located on the edge of downtown Shreveport, on the site of the former Shreveport Municipal Airport. The university's main campus is situated on approximately 200 acres (0.81 km2) of land, with additional satellite campuses located throughout the city. The campus includes a number of historic buildings, as well as a number of new and modern facilities.
LSUS is a member of the University of Louisiana System and the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges. The university is also a member of the Southern University System.
