Loras College is a private, Catholic, co-educational institution of higher learning located in Dubuque, Iowa, United States. It is one of four colleges in the Dubuque area. Loras College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association. The college offers more than 50 undergraduate majors and 10 graduate programs. The most popular majors are business, education, and nursing. The college is also home to the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra and the Dubuque Museum of Art.

Loras College was founded in 1839 by the Most Rev. Mathias Loras, the first Bishop of Dubuque. The college is named for him. The college began as a seminary and academy for young men preparing for the priesthood. In 1848, the college began offering college-level courses and became known as Mount St. Clare College. In 1856, the name was changed to Loras College. The college was closed from 1861 to 1865 during the Civil War. In 1866, the college reopened and began offering courses for women. In 1932, the college became co-educational.
