EDP University of Puerto Rico-Manati (UPRM) is a public research university located in the town of Manati on the island of Puerto Rico. Founded in 1903 as the Colegio de Agricultura y Artes Mecánicas, UPRM is the second-oldest university in Puerto Rico and the oldest of the eleven campuses that comprise the University of Puerto Rico system. The university is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

UPRM offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in a variety of disciplines, including engineering, agriculture, business, and the liberal arts. The university's main campus covers approximately 500 acres (2.0 km2) and includes over 50 buildings. The campus is home to the only public golf course on the island of Puerto Rico.

UPRM is classified as a Doctoral University: Higher Research Activity by the Carnegie Foundation. The university is home to Puerto Rico's only accredited School of Engineering and the only ABET-accredited engineering programs on the island. UPRM is also home to the only accredited business school on the island, the School of Business Administration.

The university's athletic teams, known as the Manatees, compete in the NCAA Division II. The men's and women's basketball teams compete in the Puerto Rico Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (PRIAC), while the men's and women's volleyball teams compete in the Caribbean Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

UPRM was founded on October 28, 1903, as the Colegio de Agricultura y Artes Mecánicas (College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts) by the Puerto Rico Legislature. The college was established as a response to the need for skilled workers in the agricultural and industrial sectors of the island's economy. The college's first class consisted of 35 students and five faculty members.

In 1913, the college was renamed the Colegio de Agricultura y Artes Mecánicas de Mayagüez (Mayagüez College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts) and moved to its current location in the town of Mayagüez. The college continued to grow and expand its academic offerings, and in 1931 it was renamed the Universidad de Puerto Rico en Mayagüez (University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez).

In 1948, the university's name was changed to the Universidad de Puerto Rico en Mayagüez-Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez (University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez-Mayagüez University Campus) to reflect its status as a full-fledged university.

The university continued to grow in the second half of the 20th century, and in 1989 it was renamed the Universidad de Puerto Rico en Mayagüez-Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez-Edificio Principal (University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez-Mayagüez University Campus-Main Building).

In 2003, the university celebrated its 100th anniversary. Today, UPRM is the second-largest university in Puerto Rico, with an enrollment of over 11,000 students.
