Corban University was founded in 1935 as the Salem Bible Institute by a group of pastors and laymen from the Willamette Valley. The institute was created in response to a need for Bible training in the Northwest. The first class of 12 students met in a rented house on State Street in Salem. In 1937, the institute moved to its current location on Mission Street. The school was renamed Corban College in 1969, and became Corban University in 2010.
