Berry College is a private college in Mount Berry, Georgia, about 50 miles (80 km) north of Atlanta. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The college is affiliated with the Rome campus of Shorter University. The school was founded in 1902 by Martha Berry. The Berry Schools for Boys and Girls were founded in 1909 and 1911, respectively. The schools were originally located on Berry's Mountain, but the boys' school moved to Rome, Georgia, in 1926, and the girls' school moved to Rome in 1942. The college has an enrollment of about 1,200 students. The campus comprises more than 27,000 acres (109 km2), making it the largest contiguous college campus in the world. The college is home to a variety of animals, including deer, foxes, rabbits, and squirrels. Berry College also has its own airport, which is used for student training.
