It was founded in 1878 and enrolls more than 5,000 students. The university offers more than 70 undergraduate majors and programs, as well as graduate degrees in business, education, nursing, and social work. Ashland University's sports teams compete in Division II of the NCAA and are known as the Eagles. The university's men's basketball team has won two national championships, in 2006 and 2008.
