Alverno College is a Catholic, Franciscan college located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The college was founded in 1887 by the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi and is one of the first colleges in the United States to be founded and staffed by women. The college's mission is to educate women to think critically, creatively, and ethically so that they may lead personally fulfilling and socially responsible lives.

Alverno College offers more than 50 undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as a Doctor of Nursing Practice program. The college is known for its innovative teaching methods, which include the use of performance-based assessments and a competency-based curriculum. These methods are designed to help students develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen careers.

Alverno College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The college is also accredited by the National League for Nursing and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
