The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is a public research university in Omaha, Nebraska. Founded in 1908 by faculty from the Omaha Presbyterian Theological Seminary as a private non-sectarian college, the university was originally known as the University of Omaha. It became a municipal university in 1931 when the city of Omaha took over its operations. It was renamed to its current name in 1968 when it joined the University of Nebraska system.

UNO is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The university offers more than 150 undergraduate and graduate programs in a wide range of disciplines.

The university's athletic teams, known as the Mavericks, compete in NCAA Division I in the Summit League. The men's basketball team has made two NCAA Division I tournament appearances, in 2008 and 2016. The women's soccer team has won five conference championships and made seven NCAA Division I tournament appearances, most recently in 2016.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha is located on a 156-acre (631,000 m²) campus in the northwest corner of Omaha. The campus is bisected by Dodge Street, a major east-west thoroughfare in the city. The eastern portion of the campus is occupied by the main academic buildings, while the western portion is primarily residential.

The university has an enrollment of more than 15,000 students, of whom about one-third are graduate students. The student body is racially diverse, with minorities accounting for more than 40% of the total. The university's faculty includes about 1,200 full-time instructors, of whom more than three-quarters are tenured or on the tenure track.
