The Yeshiva of Nitra Rabbinical College is a rabbinical college in Nitra, Slovakia. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious rabbinical colleges in the world, and has produced many notable alumni, including Rabbi Elazar Shach, Rabbi Yitzchak Yaakov Weiss, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach, Rabbi Elazar Menachem Man Shach, Rabbi Dovid Soloveitchik, Rabbi Herschel Schachter, Rabbi Yisroel Meir Lau, and Rabbi Moshe Tendler. The Yeshiva of Nitra was founded in 1807 by Rabbi Yitzchak Yaakov Weiss, a student of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement. The Yeshiva has been led by a succession of notable rabbis, including Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach, Rabbi Elazar Menachem Man Shach, Rabbi Dovid Soloveitchik, Rabbi Herschel Schachter, and Rabbi Yisroel Meir Lau. The Yeshiva of Nitra has a long tradition of scholarship and is known for its rigorous academic program. The Yeshiva of Nitra also has a strong commitment to social justice and has been active in relief efforts for victims of natural disasters and other tragedies.
