Wongu University of Oriental Medicine is a private, for-profit university located in Los Angeles, California. It was founded in 1983 by Dr. Won-gu Kim, a Korean-American acupuncturist, herbalist, and martial artist. The university offers a four-year Doctor of Oriental Medicine (D.O.M.) program, as well as master's degree programs in acupuncture and Oriental medicine, and a bachelor's degree in health science. The university is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).
Wongu University's D.O.M. program is a four-year, full-time program that includes coursework in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Oriental medicine theory, and Western biomedical sciences. The program also includes clinical training in both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. Upon graduation, students are eligible to take the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) exams to become licensed acupuncturists and Oriental medicine practitioners.
The university's master's degree programs in acupuncture and Oriental medicine are two-year, full-time programs that include coursework in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Oriental medicine theory, and Western biomedical sciences.
