West Virginia University, located in Morgantown, West Virginia, is a public, land-grant, research university with a strong commitment to teaching and learning. Founded in 1867 as a result of the Morrill Land-Grant Acts, WVU is one of the original Public Ivies and one of the first land-grant colleges in the United States. WVU’s main campus is located on a hilltop in Morgantown, a small city in the Appalachian Mountains.
