The University of Sioux Falls (USF) is a private liberal arts university located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The university was founded in 1883 and is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA. USF offers more than 60 undergraduate majors and programs, as well as 11 graduate degrees. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. USF's campus is located on 100 acres (40 hectares) of land in the southwest part of Sioux Falls. The university's main academic building, the Edman Memorial Chapel, is a National Historic Landmark. The Chapel is the site of weekly convocation and baccalaureate services, as well as many other special events throughout the year. The university also has an on-campus stadium, the Bob Young Field, which is home to the USF Cougars football, soccer, and track and field teams.

USF was founded in 1883 by the Dakota Territorial Legislature. The university's first president was James W. Markham, who served from 1883 to 1887. The university's first class consisted of 12 students, who met in a rented room above a local store. In 1885, the university moved to its current location on the west side of Sioux Falls. The university's first permanent building, Old Main, was completed in 1887. In the early 20th century, the university added a number of new academic programs, including a School of Education, a School of Business, and a School of Nursing. The university also began offering graduate degrees in the 1920s.

The Great Depression and World War II led to a decline in enrollment at USF, but the university was able to rebound in the postwar years. In the 1960s, the university added a number of new academic programs, including a School of Fine Arts and a School of Social Work. The university also began offering its first doctoral degrees in the 1970s. In the 1980s, the university added a School of Nursing and a School of Medicine. The university has continued to grow in the 21st century, with the addition of new academic programs and the construction of new buildings on campus.

USF is organized into six colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Education, the College of Business, the College of Nursing, the College of Medicine, and the School of Fine Arts.
