United States University (USU) is a for-profit college located in San Diego, California. The school is owned by the USU Group, which also owns and operates several other for-profit colleges. USU was founded in 1997 by John Sperling, the founder of the University of Phoenix. USU offers associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees in business, education, nursing, and psychology, as well as a doctorate in education. The school is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. USU has been the subject of several lawsuits and investigations related to its marketing and recruiting practices, as well as the quality of its education.
