The Catholic University of America (CUA) is a private university in Washington, D.C. It is the only higher education institution founded by the U.S. Catholic bishops and the largest Catholic university in the country. The university offers more than 250 academic programs across 17 schools and colleges, and its students come from all 50 states and more than 100 countries.

CUA was founded in 1887 as a response to the growing number of Catholic immigrants in the United States. The university's founders wanted to provide these students with a quality education that would allow them to succeed in American society.

Today, CUA is committed to providing a rigorous academic experience that is also shaped by the Catholic intellectual tradition. The university strives to create an environment that is conducive to personal and intellectual growth, where students can explore their faith and develop their values.

CUA is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. It is also a member of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities and the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.
