SUNY Maritime College is located in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx, New York. It is the oldest institution of its kind in the United States. Founded in 1874, the college has a long tradition of educating Merchant Marine officers.
The college offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Transportation or Marine Engineering. The Marine Transportation program prepares students for careers as deck officers or marine transportation professionals. The Marine Engineering program prepares students for careers as marine engineers or engineering officers.
The college also offers a number of other programs, including a Master of Science in Maritime Studies, a Master of Science in Marine Engineering, and a PhD in Maritime Studies.
