Founded in 1854, Rhode Island College is a comprehensive, public institution of higher education and a member of the five-campus Rhode Island state university system. The college's 180-acre campus is located in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Providence, Rhode Island. The college offers bachelor's degrees in over 50 majors and concentrations, as well as master's degrees in education, business, and social work.
In addition to its academic programs, Rhode Island College is home to a number of athletic teams, including men's and women's basketball, cross country, and track and field. The college is also home to a number of student organizations, including the Student Government Association, the Black Student Union, and the College Democrats.
