Pepperdine University is a private research university affiliated with the Churches of Christ. The university is located on 830 acres (340 ha) of land atop a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Malibu, California. It is the only private research university in the state of California that is affiliated with the Churches of Christ. The university offers undergraduate and graduate programs in liberal arts, business, education, law, and psychology.
Founded in 1937 by George Pepperdine, the university was originally located in Hollywood, California. In the 1950s, the university relocated to Malibu, where it has since remained. Pepperdine is considered one of the most prestigious universities in the United States, and it is ranked as one of the top-tier universities by several publications.
