Olivet Nazarene University is a private, Christian, comprehensive university located in Bourbonnais, Illinois, United States. The university is affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene. ONU was founded in 1907 by John N. Ingles, a minister in the Church of the Nazarene, and James E. Breckenridge, a businessman and philanthropist. The original campus was in Mount Vernon, Illinois, but the university has since expanded to include locations in Illinois, Florida, and Indiana.
ONU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and offers over 100 undergraduate and graduate programs. The university is organized into six colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business and Professional Studies, the College of Education, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, the College of Theology and Christian Ministry, and the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies.
ONU's campus in Bourbonnais is situated on 1,350 acres (5.4 km2) of land. The university's main campus includes academic buildings, residence halls, a dining hall, a library, a chapel, and a number of administrative buildings. The campus also contains athletic facilities, including a football stadium, a basketball arena, and a golf course.
ONU's athletic teams compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Mid-Central College Conference (MCC). The university's football team has won four NAIA national championships and has appeared in the NAIA national championship game six times. The university's men's basketball team has also won four NAIA national championships.
