North Dakota State University-Main Campus is a public research university in Fargo, North Dakota. Founded in 1890 as the state's land-grant university, NDSU is a member of the North Dakota University System and the Carnegie Foundation's Doctoral/Research Universities-Extensive category. NDSU offers more than 200 undergraduate majors and 100 graduate programs, including doctorates in pharmacy, engineering, education, and agribusiness and applied economics. The university's research expenditures totaled $257 million in 2016, ranking it fourth in the nation for research expenditures among public universities without a medical school.

NDSU is home to the FargoDome, the largest indoor stadium in the state of North Dakota. The stadium is used for football, basketball, volleyball, and other sporting events, as well as concerts and other large-scale events. The university's athletic teams, known as the Bison, compete in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). The men's basketball team has won six conference championships and made one appearance in the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament. The women's basketball team has won two conference championships and made one appearance in the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament.

The university's main campus in Fargo is home to several notable buildings, including the Library of the North Dakota State University System, the NDSU Alumni Center, the NDSU Bookstore, and the NDSU Memorial Union. The main campus is also home to several academic and administrative buildings, including the NDSU School of Medicine and Health Sciences, the NDSU College of Nursing, and the NDSU College of Education and Human Development.
