New York Theological Seminary (NYTS) is a private, non-profit institution of higher education located in New York City. It is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA and the United Church of Christ. The seminary was founded in 1892 by several Baptist and Congregationalist ministers and laymen who were concerned about the quality of theological education in America. They believed that a new kind of seminary was needed, one that would be more ecumenical and open to different points of view.

NYTS is committed to preparing men and women for leadership and service in a wide variety of ministries. The seminary offers a variety of degree programs, including the Master of Divinity, the Master of Arts in Theological Studies, and the Doctor of Ministry. NYTS also offers a number of certificate programs and continuing education courses.

NYTS is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS). The seminary is also a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

NYTS is located in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, near Columbia University and Barnard College. The seminary’s campus includes a number of historic buildings, including the Union Theological Seminary Library and the Interchurch Center.

NYTS is led by a Board of Trustees that includes representatives from the American Baptist Churches USA and the United Church of Christ. The seminary’s faculty is made up of scholars from a variety of religious traditions.
